What’s going on in Finland?

Autumn is here – this is one of the best times for hiking in Finland

The time of the midnight sun is over. Now it’s time for autumn colors and northern lights.

In September the colors of autumn start to show in the northern parts of Finland. And as the autumn foliage is at it’s best in the South, it can already be snowing in Lapland, usually during October.

This is one of the best times for hiking in Finland: there are no more mosquitos, and, if you’re really lucky, you might already be able to see some northern lights.

In autumn it is common that the temperature drops below zero during the night. As the sun rises, one might see some very beautiful foggy and frosty landscapes early in the morning. The polar night in Lapland starts in November.
