Floating in the Finnish Wilderness: Book Your Night Above the Trees at Skytent Ecocamp Nuuksio
If you’ve ever dreamed of escaping into the woods to hide from the hustle and bustle of the world, cradled by the gentle sway of ancient pines, then Skytent Ecocamp Nuuksio is your destination. Located just a stone’s throw from Helsinki, this unique glamping experience offers a bridge between the wild Finnish nature and the comfort of a well-curated stay.
In Finland, we have a special relationship with our forests. They are our cathedrals and our playgrounds. At Skytent Ecocamp, you become part of it. Book your stay now.

What is a Skytent?
Imagine a hybrid between a high-quality camping tent and a spacious hammock. These accommodations are suspended between sturdy trees, “floating” above the forest floor.
It’s a sensation of weightlessness. When you climb in, you’re elevated from the uneven ground, away from bugs and dampness. The tent is designed for two people to sleep comfortably, and don’t worry, it’s very stable. The tension is adjusted so you won’t roll into each other (unless you want to!), and the structure can support up to 400 kg.
In the reel below, our team members Jonna and Joel demonstrate various ways to access the Skytent.
A World Away, Just Minutes from the City
Skytent Ecocamp Nuuksio is very accessible. While a typical stay in Helsinki involves the hum of city traffic, the screeching of trams and the glow of streetlights, a mere 45-minute drive from the city center (or 30 minutes from the airport) transports you into a completely different realm. Parking is free of charge, and there is plenty of space available.
You can also reach us easily by bus: take the local train to Espoo Centre (Espoo/Espoon keskus) and catch bus 245(A) to Haltia. The nearest stop, Haltia/Solvalla, is located right in front of the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia, where we’ll be ready to welcome you for your stay at Skytent Ecocamp Nuuksio.
Choosing this over a traditional hotel room means swapping four walls for the open canopy of Nuuksio national park and trade-marked city sounds for the rhythmic rustle of pines. You can enjoy the culture and architecture of Helsinki during the day and be swaying gently between trees by nightfall. Despite the short distance, the atmosphere at the camp is one of pure, rugged wilderness, offering a sense of solitude and peace that no hotel can replicate. It’s a total sensory reset that feels miles away from the modern world, yet is safe and easy enough to reach even for a first-time visitor to Finland.
Experience the Magic of the Finnish White Nights
One thing that surprises many first-time visitors to Finland is the light. During the summer months, from May to August, the sun barely dips below the horizon. This is the time of the Midnight Sun, where the night is never truly dark, but rather a soft, ethereal twilight.

Imagine lying in your skytent with the outer rain cover pulled back. You’re looking up through a mesh roof at the treetops and the pale blue sky. Around you, the forest is alive. You’ll hear the song of the wilderness, the late-night chirping of birds and the rustle of wind in the birch leaves.
Senses of the Forest:
- Touch: Feel the cool evening breeze on your face while your body stays warm in a high-quality sleeping bag.
- Taste: Look down, right beneath your floating home, there might be wild blueberries.
- Sight: Watch the mist rise from the nearby Lake Nuuksion Pitkäjärvi as the night turns into morning.

Activities at Nuuksio National Park: Hiking and Swimming
One of the biggest draws of Skytent Ecocamp is its location. It is situated right at the gateway to Nuuksio National Park, one of Finland’s most beloved natural treasures.
You are only a few steps away from marked hiking trails that lead you through moss-covered forests, over rugged cliffs, and past hidden woodland lakes. Whether you want a short 2 km stroll or a longer trek, the paths are easy to follow and incredibly scenic. Our experts at the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia are ready to help. Share your hiking preferences with them, and they will help you find the best routes on the map. You can also rent outdoor gear from them if needed, and the restaurant upstairs offers delicious meals or treats with coffee to enjoy before or after your adventure. You can also book a private sauna session at Haltia—just ask our customer advisors for more details!
Fun fact: just a stone’s throw away, you can even meet reindeer at the Nuuksio Reindeer Park!
After a day of exploring, there is nothing more Finnish than heading to the lake. The camp is located on the shore of Lake Nuuksion Pitkäjärvi. Take a dip in the clear, refreshing water either in the evening or first thing in the morning. It’s a ritual that makes you feel truly alive.

All-Inclusive Comfort: What’s Included in Your Stay?
You won’t have to struggle with tent poles or heavy backpacks. We’ve taken care of the details so you can focus on the experience. Your stay includes:
- A Ready-Made Bed: A pre-pitched skytent with a comfortable mattress, a warm sleeping bag, a hygienic liner, and a pillow.
- The “Kota” Experience: Access to a large, traditional Lappish-style hut (kota) where you can spend the evening by the campfire. The kota is a shared space for all guests, perfect for coming together and enjoying the campfire.
- We also provide the firewood, “nokipannu” (traditional soot-blackened coffee pots), and camping dishes.
- Forest Breakfast: No dry crackers here! You’ll enjoy a fresh breakfast at the nearby building.
- Modern Facilities: You are in the wild, but a hot shower and clean indoor toilets are just 50 meters away.
Is Skytent Ecocamp Safe and Easy to Reach?
For those traveling from abroad, accessibility is key. No worries!
- From Helsinki City Center: 45 minutes by car or public transport.
- From Helsinki-Vantaa Airport: Only 30 minutes away.
- Safety: Finland is one of the safest countries in the world, and our forests are no exception. There are no dangerous animals to worry about, and the camp area is well-maintained. A professional will meet you upon arrival to ensure you have everything you need.

Practical Tips for Your Visit
To make the most of your night in the trees, here are a few tips:
- Pack Light: Since everything from towels to sleeping bags is provided, you only need your personal items and some snacks for the evening.
- Temperature: Even in summer, Finnish nights can be cool. The air flows under the tent, so it feels similar to traditional camping. Prepare to dress in layers!
- Light Sleepers: The birds in Finland are very enthusiastic about the sunrise (which happens very early!). If you’re a light sleeper, we recommend using earplugs and an eye mask, both of which are available at the Finnish Nature Centre Haltia nearby.
- Book in Advance: The camp is only open during the summer season (May–September), and because there are only a handful of tents (5–7 in total), make sure you’ve made a reservation in advance.
Ready to hang out in the trees? You can book your spot for this coming summer now.
