As the opposite to the Polar Night is the time of the midnight sun: in Lapland the Sun doesn’t set at all for weeks. Here you can see what it looks like when the Sun shines in the middle of the night!

The midsummer’s Eve is one of the most celebrated fests in Finland and is the time of warm and sunny nights with good food and bonfires. The Finns often spend this time in their cottages surrounded by nature, and not in the cities.

There is a difference whether you are in the South or North of Finland during the midnight Sun. In the North, the Sun shines throughout the night as long as there are no clouds. In the South, such as in Helsinki, it does get a bit dark for a couple of hours every night.
