The venue doubles as a museum, showcasing the band’s journey from its early days to becoming a world-class act. The walls are adorned with setlists, tour props, instruments, photos, awards, and fan memorabilia. Each item tells a story of the band’s rise to fame. The spirit of the late Alexi Laiho, the band’s legendary guitarist, is present in the space with his legacy carefully preserved in collaboration with the band and his family in the form of prototypes and stage-played guitars.

On our visit, a gloomy and rainy Monday evening, I was joined by two good friends who are also devoted metal enthusiasts. After we got a tour of the facilities we hit the sauna. The changing room has a backstage type of feel with photos of the band members swimming adding to the bathhouse environment. Drinks can be brought to the washrooms as well and apparently private events also have a personal fridge.

The sauna at Bodom Bar & Sauna is dark and atmospheric, reflecting the heavy genre it represents, but it is surprisingly gentle and comfortable. The spacious sauna can accommodate larger groups, making it perfect for gatherings of fellow fans. In addition to separate saunas for men and women, there’s also a mixed-gender sauna for those who prefer it.
