A dry sauna, real stove, and proper steam

Saivo Sauna is no steamy spa sauna. It is an authentic Finnish dry sauna, heated by a burning hot stove (kiuas) to the traditional temperatures Finns love – up to 80–90°C. The signature steam (löyly) is created in the traditional way by pouring water over the hot stones with a large ladle. The stove hisses, steam rises, and heat fills the room.

The private facilities are designed for groups of up to 12 people and provide the perfect setting, for example, after a nature hike or an outdoor adventure in Nuuksio.

The Saivo Lounge – tranquility with a view over Nuuksio’s lakes

It naturally gets hot in the sauna, so cooling down between sessions is a must. You can relax in the private Saivo Lounge, where large windows open to views of the beautiful Nuuksio landscape. The lounge also has direct access to a long scenic terrace, where you can step outside to breathe in the fresh scent of pine forest.

The lounge features a modern and compact kitchenette, and as Haltia holds a full alcohol license, catering can easily be arranged as part of your sauna session. When you arrive, the sauna is preheated and ready for use, with shower gels and disposable seat covers provided.

Book your private sauna – anytime

Saivo Sauna can also be reserved outside Haltia’s regular opening hours for an additional fee, and booking times can be extended on request. All you need to bring is your own towel (or rent one on site) and make sure the space is lightly tidied up after use.

The name and meaning of Saivo

Saivo (sáiva in Sámi) originates from the Sámi language. The word carries many meanings but often refers to a sacred or exceptionally fish-rich lake – sometimes even to a mythical double-bottomed lake believed to connect to another world.
