Everyman’s right in Finland
With everyman’s right anyone can enjoy Finnish nature in many ways. Hiking, cycling and paddling in Finnish nature are everyman’s rights.
It is usually ok to fish, swim, pick berries and mushrooms and simply to roam around in the nature without asking permissions. However, one must always stay away from private yards.
Fishing with a fishing rod or a lure used in ice fishing is an everyman’s right in Finland. One can also pick berries such as bilberries, lingonberries, cranberries and cloudberries in the nature. Swimming is allowed as long as you’re not on anyone’s yard.
Remember!
With everyman’s right comes also everyman’s responsibility. When enjoying our beautiful nature in Finland, always make sure you don’t harm it in any way. Do not disturb the animals, stay away from private yards and most importantly, never litter!
