Flavors straight from the core of Finnishness – by the campfire, naturally
Everything tastes better outdoors and the most loved delicacies in Finland are unquestionably the pancakes cooked on an open fire. The formula is rather simple: dough, time and fire – the principal resources we won’t neglect. Just lean back, inhale firmly and enjoy the luxury of giving yourself time. And pancakes. And coffee.
Plätty – Bonfire Pancake Feast in the Woods
The noun for a Finnish pancake varies. Lettu, lätty, plätty, räiskäle, ohukainen… According to folklore we tend to give a range of names for the most beloved matters. And pancakes certainly are one of them.
Our pancakes are cooked the traditional way on an open fire using only the few best ingredients. We invite you to share the fireside with us and enjoy the modest yet glorious taste of Finnish pancakes crowned with sweet jam. Traditional kettle coffee/tea with necessary condiments is naturally also served.
And by the way, our coffee is the best we know for being made with fire, because we developed it ourselves!

“The fire’s glow beckons a calming presence, as the soft crackling of firewood and flames blends with the gentle rustle of the wind from outside. Our guide, a true maestro of outdoor cooking, begins to work magic with pancakes and coffee. He pours batter onto the hot, oiled pan, and with a skilled flick of the wrist, he spreads the batter evenly into a sizzling delight. As the batter cooks, an irresistible aroma fills the air.
Just at the right moment, it’s time to flip the pancake, revealing its perfectly cooked, beautiful golden-brown surface. Using oil artfully, our guide ensures that each pancake’s edges are delightfully crispy while the center stays soft and moist. Soon, it’s time to stack the pancakes on a plate and crown them with jam and sugar.
Meanwhile, the coffee pot purrs contentedly over the fire, and the smell of coffee blends with the fresh outdoor air. When the drink is ready – our guide knows the spells to make it perfect – its strong aroma awakens the senses and makes mouths water. The coffee tastes rich and full-bodied and is both prepared and savored leisurely.
By the warm fire, time stands still. Every bite of the pancakes made by the fire and sip of coffee is part of something greater – a connection to nature, our ancestors, and each other. This moment deepens our understanding of the Finnish way of life, and sharing it is just as precious as the culinary experience itself.”
